Shattering Mirror
A practice in rigid body dynamics and shattering FX
Project Breakdown
This was my first time creating a shattering/rigid body dynamics effect in Houdini. I focused a lot on finding good reference and matching the shapes and motion that I saw. I also practiced layering multiple effects to get the look that I wanted, using multiple particle simulations on top of the RBD simulation to create a more explosive shattering effect.
- Responsible for shattering FX, particle FX, FX shading, lighting, and rendering
- Mirror shattering FX created with Houdini Rigid Body Dynamics workflow
- Particle shard FX created with Houdini POPS
- FX shaded and lit in Houdini Solaris
- Rendered with Houdini Karma
